Happy New Year! My #2017bestnine are filling me with anticipation for another year of growing and flowers. #mybestnine #newyear #flowers #2018 #yearinreview #gardengathered #homegrown
A snowy walk from the house this morning. Plans to work in the garden have been shelved in favour of browsing seed catalogues! #snow #woodland #december

A perfect frosty walk in the trossachs today, ideal for building up an appetite for the next round of leftovers. #frost #winterwonderland #trossachs
First time I’ve made a foliage garland and it was a treat! Easy to do and really high impact. Thankful I have so many shrubs close to hand to provide materials! #garland #christmascraft #foliage

Christmas wreath completed! This was so satisfying to make, with a cup of coffee to hand and Christmas music playing. #wreath #christmas #handmade

Well and truly winter in the garden today: we don’t have any snow but the frost is almost as good. #frost #december #winter

Finally! Just in time, the cafe au lait dahlia says hello. This single bloom has been coddled in fleece and checked on every day for the past couple of weeks, and it has really taken its time. There’s a heavy frost today and will be more tomorrow, so this seems like a good way to say goodbye to this year’s flower season. Maybe next year I can get a better showing from the dahlias... #dahlia #cafeaulait #dahlialove

Tulip time! I’ve planted lots of new varieties that I’m looking forward to seeing in the spring. #tulips #bulbs #planningforspring
First frost. #frost #hydrangea #winter
Picked in anticipation of a cold night tonight. #rose #coldsnap #bloom
I thought my cafe au lait dahlia had been completely eaten by slugs, so imagine my delight on finding this! Am going to be out with a torch every day (now that I leave and return to the house in darkness) to check its progress. Hopefully it will be the perfect end to flower season! #dahlia #cafeaulait #dahlialove

Looks like I sowed my biennials a bit too early...🙃#biennial #sweetwilliam #gardenfail
This week’s flowers are slightly at odds with the weather outside - I’m glad I cut them before tonight’s storm. #inavaseonmonday #cosmos #arrangement
It’s that time of year again... #autumncolour #acer #red
Kidding myself that it’s still summer with this selection from the garden. #inavaseonmonday #cosmos #dahlia #snapdragon
The hydrangeas have turned a beautiful rich colour for autumn. #hydrangea #red #autumn
A lovely double freesia with the most delicious scent. Definitely going to be growing more of these next year. #freesia #scentedflowers #doublebloom
I didn't think any of my scabious 'fata morgana' seedlings had survived, and then up pops this beauty! #scabious #fatamorgana #blush
