Throwback Thursday to Sunday, November 12, when I visited the grave of Johann Sebastian Bach (1685-1750) at St. Thomas Church in Leipzig. Also, 228 years ago, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart played the organ at St. Thomas Church.
Impressed by the lightness, vivacity, and humanity of Mendelssohn's music, Shakespeare's "A Midsummer Night's Dream," and last but not least, Susanna Mälkki's genuinely joyful conducting at this evening's LA Phil concert at Walt Disney Concert Hall! #classicalmusic#art#LosAngeles#LAPhil#philharmonic
Throwback Thursday ... to yesterday! I've played millions upon millions of keys on pianos, but never before has a piano hammer malfunctioned as in the picture! Even more strange was that I was playing a soft and dreamy Rachmaninov Etude in G Minor, Op. 33 No. 7. The hammer corresponds to the note B-flat 3. It's like I told the hammer to "Be flat!" #piano#music#Rachmaninov#pianist#musician#classicalmusic
